Trump has led us to the border of the promise land: a land where trillions of dollars of manufacturing is being reestablished, where thousands of good jobs will be available to rebuild the middle class. Yet, just like when Moses was in the same position, we have the whiners want to go back to the modern “Egypt” of deficits, 18 million men out of the work force, with a credentialed class of doctors, lawyers and bureaucrats living in their gated communities despising the rest of society as it deteriorates into a shabby dangerous war zone. The detracting media complains that “Trump is dismantling a system we’ve had for five decades”. Yes, and it’s resulted in an unsustainable $37T deficit, which has resulted the wealth of our country being bled out of our country.
No, it’s time for Americans to push through and rebuild our country into a manufacturing powerhouse, bringing in wealth and hope to all of us. The deceit is that “Tariffs are a tax on the American people.” Here’s the way it works: if you’re shopping for an $80K car, you have a choice. Let’s say it’s a Lincoln Continental or a BMW 530i. If we slap a $24,000 tariff on the BMW, the BMW people know if they try to just raise their price $24,000, they wouldn’t sell any cars. The consumer would just buy the Lincoln Continental. So BMW has to eat the tariff and scramble to move their manufacturing within the borders to get out from under the Tariff. To imply people are required to pay more for the BMW, (that Tariffs are a tax) is absurd.
The “International Rules Based Order” was fashioned right after WWII when America was the “last man standing” and the rest of the world was in ruins. Under those circumstances, we could be the world’s policeman. We could afford to set up unfair trade concessions. But now, the world has rebuilt. We are no longer able to be the world’s policeman. We can no longer tolerate trade deficits with every country on earth, which drains the wealth out of our country. Equalizing tariffs with countries that export to us is only fair.
To say “oh, prices will go up” is not exactly true as we covered above. What we need to focus on is the Trillions of investments that is onshoring, and the thousands of jobs created for American citizens. Trump says it’s going to take a couple of years.
